If you ever heard of TweakUI, you might have the basic idea of what this application is about. But, there are something that makes reckon i a bit special compared to TweakUI. TweakUI is basically about tweaking your Windows as per your liking. It is like changing the interior of your car based on what has already provided. reckon i is similar but differs a little. You also change the interior of your car with reckon i, but you only need change it when some troublesome kids spilled some juice or something. But, I am not talking about your car, I am talking about your Windows XP. And, actually I meant malware/viruses not just any troublesome kid.
*i am using a really bad example … :/
Lately, there have been a boom of malware borned to give headache to Windows XP user. The usual systoms include disabled Regedit, disabled TaskManager, disabled Command Prompt, and Folder Option went missing. Of course, people like myself doesn’t find it hard to fix the problems I stated. But it still does annoys me to fix these systoms every time a friend ask me to fix their Windows. And here comes reckon i, making my life way easier. It also really helps user who are not familiar with Windows XP’s commands.
reckon i is compiled with iTweak, iThreat, iProtect and iUtil. Each have different functions of their own. iTweak is a component where we fix problems that I just stated above. iThreat is a component to remove the malware/viruses (it works similar like RemoveIT accept you have to add your own virus signature manually). iProtect is to protect special folders or files from being accessed by unwanted user. Last but not least, the iUtil is used to run some of the Windows tweaking tools such as Regedit, Command Prompt, Defragmenter, etc. Sometimes, malwares disabled “RUN”, hence makes it hard to open Command Prompt, and here the iUtil really comes in handy.

This software is originally developed by Houssain Benzoury, a good friend of mine. He did not plan reckon i to be a big tweaking tool (its small actually, the jar is only 130kb+). It was like on one day, he read a book stating that “JAVA apps may never breach the security of Windows“. Let me simplify it, some people believed that JAVA application runs under sandbox, and thus it can’t be made as a tweaking utility or a virus removal tool. He believed that that theory is wrong and decided to make an application to prove it. From there reckon was born. Later, he added more functions such as virus scan and removal tool (with the help of ReeqSolutions) but it start-up slowly. Then, after Data Structure class, he gainned an understanding that his old method of storing variable was the caused of the slowness on reckonV2. He then added a better way to store data; the linked-list. The whole application was in development for more than 1 years, but due to some reason, he did not promote this software publicly in the internet. I wanted to promote this piece of application last year, but my plans did not go well…
